Hurricanes - Preparation and Aftermath

Hurricanes - Preparation and Aftermath

David Tredinnickan interview with David Tredinnick, Senior Project Manager,Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Hurricane season is from June 1 - November 30, 2014

CentiMark (CM): You’ve had some experience with hurricanes, haven’t you? David Tredinnick
(DT): Yes, in my 14 years at CentiMark, I have worked on hurricanes Charlie, Jean, Francis and Wilma.

CM: Can any roof stand up to a hurricane?
DT: No roof is 100% immune to the damages of microbursts, heavy winds or hurricanes. Proper construction and preventative maintenance on the roof system does help with performance. Even roofs that are properly designed and installed can fail in a weather disaster because of flying debris.

Green from Roof to Floor

Green from Roof to Floor

Let’s look at environmental issues and green solutions for roofing and flooring.

Green or sustainable solutions seek to preserve the environment in which we live and work through daily practices that have minimal impact to that environment for the benefit of future generations. In our daily lives, we buy energy efficient light bulbs or recycle office paper to save energy costs and reduce the impact on the environment. At CentiMark, we provide sustainable roofing and flooring solutions for our customers to improve the energy and environmental performance of their building envelopes. This blog shares the many ways in which we help reduce energy consumption, promote healthier working environments and create longer lasting, more durable roofing and flooring systems.

Schedule Summer Plant Shutdown Flooring

Schedule Summer Plant Shutdown Flooring

Summer Plant Shutdowns: Let's Set A Date!

Plant shutdowns are a necessity for manufacturing facilities. It is a time to do the work that cannot be performed during normal business operations. For facilities, scheduled shutdowns are necessary to maintain plants and equipment. There is also a loss of revenue and a loss of production during the plant shutdown.

The results of the shutdown include: aesthetic improvements, less equipment failures, increased facility compliance with governing agencies (safety, OSHA, USDA) and improved production integrity. The shutdown is usually short and intense for all parties involved in the work.

Get QuestMark on your summer schedule for flooring work!

CentiMark People: Meet Ninja Yerraguntla, Canonsburg, PA

CentiMark People: Meet Ninja Yerraguntla, Canonsburg, PA

Niranjan "Ninja" Yerraguntla, SAP Application Manager

CentiMark Corporate Office, Canonsburg, PA 15 years with CentiMark

Everyone has a story... but Ninja's story is pretty unique.

The short version

In 1999, Ninja was working as a consultant in San Jose, CA and looking for full-time employment. After a telephone interview with Joe Filtz, Business Application Manager, for a job at CentiMark, he took a bus from San Jose, CA to Pittsburgh, PA because he couldn't afford the $1,000 plane ticket. That meant 2-½ days on six buses with 11 drivers. 62 hours on a Greyhound bus! Sure, he saw Sacramento, CA; Denver, CO; St. Louis, MO and Pittsburgh, PA...but he had no idea America was such a large country. He had only moved to San Jose from India three months prior. After the in-person interview with Joe, Ninja started working at CentiMark Corporate offices the next week and never returned to San Jose.

Hail Damage To Your Roof

Hail Damage To Your Roof

The mid-Central and mid-South have had numerous hail storms this week with more expected over the weekend. You will need a roof inspection to determine if hail has damaged the roof.

Hail & Your Roof - Inspecting and Identifying

Hail is a form of solid precipitation that falls at higher speeds as it grows in size. Hail may fracture or shred the roofing membrane with its irregular, sharp edges.

Hail damage on the roof may go unnoticed until cracks, leaks or other structural damage is detected. Small fractures from hail may not open up for months after a storm and then cause roof leaks.

Winter Weather and Your Roof

Winter Weather and Your Roof

Winter Weather: It’s Hard on Your Roof

Let CentiMark help you avoid the consequences of water damage caused by a leaky roof!

Potential Roof Problems:

  • Frozen gutters filled with ice can damage your building. Heavy ice from gutters pulls them down and away from the roof creating openings for water entry.
  • High winds from winter storms cause roof penetrations to loosen and create openings at the base flashings or punctures. Debris may blow across the roof and cause punctures or tears.
