CentiMark (CM): You’ve had some experience with hurricanes, haven’t you? David Tredinnick
(DT): Yes, in my 14 years at CentiMark, I have worked on hurricanes Charlie, Jean, Francis and Wilma.

 

CM: Can any roof stand up to a hurricane?
DT: No roof is 100% immune to the damages of microbursts, heavy winds or hurricanes. Proper construction and preventative maintenance on the roof system does help with performance. Even roofs that are properly designed and installed can fail in a weather disaster because of flying debris.

Hail & Your Roof - Inspecting and Identifying

Hail is a form of solid precipitation that falls at higher speeds as it grows in size. Hail may fracture or shred the roofing membrane with its irregular, sharp edges.

Hail damage on the roof may go unnoticed until cracks, leaks or other structural damage is detected. Small fractures from hail may not open up for months after a storm and then cause roof leaks.
