OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) is asking all construction contractors to participate in this year’s National Safety Stand-Down. The purpose of the National Safety Stand-Down is to prevent roof falls in construction. The National Safety Stand-Down raises fall hazard awareness in an effort to reduce fall fatalities and injuries. Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees.

The Safety Stand-Down is a voluntary event to encourage employers to reinforce safety from roof falls and roof hazards with their crews. CentiMark will focus on fall hazards and fall prevention in their educational reinforcements with crews and crews will provide feedback as to hazards and fall prevention suggestions.

CentiMark’s Safety Team’s information on fall prevention and fall hazards will be posted on our blog throughout next week.

About the National Safety Stand-Down:

  1. Contractors and workers can plan together, before every job, to work safely at heights.
  2. Contractors must provide the right equipment for working at heights and workers need to use that equipment.
  3. Contractors and workers need to be trained to use the equipment and to work safely.
