HEARTH - A Tribute to CentiMark's 50th
HEARTH would like to celebrate with CentiMark on their 50th anniversary! Thanks to CentiMark and their generous and philanthropic Chairman & CEO, Edward B. Dunlap, HEARTH continues to thrive in the greater Pittsburgh community. HEARTH has gone through some big changes in the last few years and we couldn’t have continued serving our families without CentiMark! Their commitment to education for women and their children is incredible and a core value that Mr. Dunlap shares with us.
Commitment to HEARTH’s program: HEARTH is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit whose mission is to provide a range of supportive services and housing that empowers homeless families, who are survivors of domestic violence or other trauma, to become independent, self-sufficient and adequately housed. HEARTH helps foster low income housing opportunities to prevent homelessness and encourage safe, affordable housing. In 2017, HEARTH became the ONLY transitional housing unit for women with children in Allegheny County. To do this, we chose to become privately funded. The support from CentiMark and Mr. Dunlap has helped us to maintain our mission and continue serving a very important population.
Each year HEARTH receives a generous donation for our Purses with a Purpose fundraiser at LeMont Restaurant. CentiMark realizes that for a Mom and her children to succeed, they need to be adequately housed. Thefamilies need to be secure and warm. The Mothers living at HEARTH need to be enrolled in an educational or job skill training program.
CentiMark values education in our community. Each year, HEARTH children receive backpacks filled with school supplies and gift cards for school clothing and shoes. It can be expensive and difficult for a single Mom without transportation to get her children the proper back to school supplies. Thanks to CentiMark, our Moms can feel confident that their children have the same learning opportunities at school as other children.
We are so grateful for a community partner like CentiMark. Thanks for 50 years of helping others and a job well done!
