Girls Hope Thanks and Congratulates CentiMark
Girls Hope is thrilled to congratulate Ed Dunlap, Tim Dunlap and the entire CentiMark team on your 50th anniversary! CentiMark has been involved with the Girls Hope program for a dozen years and we could not be more grateful for your support.
“CentiMark is proud to donate to Girls Hope, because the program works for so many of the scholars,” said Kathy Slencak, CentiMark's Manager of Public Relations and long-time Girls Hope volunteer and mentor. “Through the structure and support of the Girls Hope family and their own families, good schools and employment opportunities, these scholars can successfully take the steps from poverty to stability.”
CentiMark's generous support of Girls Hope has helped numerous academically-capable and motivated children-in-need meet their full potential and become women for others. CentiMark's assistance allows us at Girls Hope to provide value-centered, nurturing, family-like homes, opportunities and a quality education through college, as we break the patterns of abuse, poverty and neglect experienced by the young women we serve.
Kathy was first introduced to Girls Hope through our founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph. She was so impressed by the scholars when she visited our residential homes that she decided to get more involved as a volunteer. Kathy and her mentee scholar, Juanita, have enjoyed theatre; opera; museums; tours in western PA from train rides on Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad, Volant’s Amish community; and, walking tours of Pittsburgh neighborhoods and cemeteries; sporting events; tea parties; restaurants and their personal favorite - the Christmas Choir Church Walk in Oakmont, PA each December. These outings provided Juanita with opportunities that she may not have experienced otherwise.
Juanita is currently on a full scholarship at Carlow University. She earned a 3.5 GPA in her first semester and will finish up her freshman year this spring. It is obvious that Kathy has had a profound impact on Juanita based on her recent accomplishments and we are fortunate to have volunteers and mentors like Kathy as part of our program.
On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff, scholars and families at Girls Hope, thank you Ed Dunlap, Tim Dunlap and CentiMark for your longtime investment and belief in our important mission. Congratulations on your 50th Anniversary!
