Hurricane Laura Help from Our Houston Office's Kirk & Brittany Franco
Kirk Franco, Senior Project Manager, Houston, TX, woke up on Saturday morning and knew he had to help the people in the Lake Charles area of western Louisiana who had devastating losses from Hurricane Laura. The Houston area was spared this time by Mother Nature. Kirk and his wife Brittany decided to drive to Sulphur, LA on Sunday morning to feed people in need.
They asked their neighbors and friends - and received $1,700 in donations and contributions from restaurants in the Houston area. Kirk and Brittany made a trip to the grocery store and went to the CentiMark office to borrow the office grill.
On Sunday morning after a 2-1/2 hour drive, they set up in the parking lot of West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, where CentiMark crews are working on the roof that was damaged by the Hurricane. From 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, the Franco's fed 450 people - CentiMark crews, restoration crews, Homeland Security Agents, First Responders and community members. Then they drove around the community and stopped where they saw people working on neighborhood clean-ups and fed them until the food was gone.
Going the Extra Mile is an understatement. Thank you Kirk and Brittany for helping the people in the Sulphur, LA community. We're proud of the "Culture of Giving" at CentiMark and the Franco's certainly talked the talk and walked the walk. "We will all be in need of help at least once in our lives. Louisiana helped out Texas so much with Hurricanes Harvey and Ike," says Kirk.
